Aloha Gay People!

I hate the idea that civil unions and marriage should be some political issue. Please take a second to read this ridiculous story from Hawaii about their Senate's response to a bill legalizing Civil Unions. The key part of this bill that is completely asinine to me is the amount of Hawaiian Senators that actually support Civil Unions, but believe it should not be legislated. Meaning, they support the bill, and even though a bill is required to de-Politicize the issue, they let the bill die because they do not want politics to be the deciding factor. Because the bill had stalled in its own committee, the other senators did not want to step on the toes of the committee.

Why?

What is the big deal about giving people who are just like you and me the chance to actually have legal rights together so that they can visit each other in the hospital, not have a specific line in their will specifying their primary benefactor, not have to worry about next of kin notification, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.
